The City of Portland is once again hosting a fireworks display for the Fourth of July this year. The display will be held on Saturday, July 4, in its usual spot on the Eastern Promenade, with the fireworks set to go off around 9:15 PM. A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, July 5. Food trucks will be available on the Eastern Promenade Roadway.
Fireworks will be launched from the East End Trail. The trail will need to be closed from Cutter Street to the Water Treatment Plant from 6:00 AM until deemed safe by City Staff (approximately 11:00 PM). In the event of rain, these Trail closings would be in effect until Sunday, July 5th (same times would apply).
The Casco Bay Wind Symphony (CBWS) will perform again this year, starting at 7:00 PM until the beginning of the fireworks show. The program will include a mix of patriotic music, popular tunes, and a sprinkling of symphonic pieces.
The City would like to remind the public that the fireworks can be seen from locations other than the Eastern Promenade. These locations include East End Beach, Fort Allen Park, Amethyst Park, Baxter Boulevard, Payson Park, Martin’s Point on Veranda Street, and Bug Light in South Portland.
