DAY OF SHOW: $40 (+ fees) James Montgomery has spent more than five decades earning his reputation as one of the blues world’s premier harmonica players. Dubbed “legendary” by the Nashville Tennessean, Montgomery got his start learning from icons like James Cotton, John Lee Hooker, and Jr. Wells in Detroit before forming the James Montgomery Band while attending Boston University. Within two years, the band had become one of Boston’s hottest acts alongside Aerosmith and the J. Geils Band, leading to a multi-album deal with Capricorn Records. Throughout his career, Montgomery has toured and performed with artists including Johnny Winter, B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen, the Allman Brothers, Buddy Guy, and Mick Jagger, while also serving as a touring member of the Blues Brothers and Johnny Winter Band. A Grammy-nominated artist and passionate advocate for charitable causes, he continues to tour with his longtime band, organize all-star benefit concerts, and support projects that preserve blues history and give back to musicians and veterans.
