Sundays At The Farm at Hackmatack Farm & Playhouse 538 School Street, Berwick, ME 03901 1PM – 3PM This weekly “backyard party” makes the most out of the easy Sundays afternoons of summertime! Bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy an afternoon at the farm! Come and listen to live music, have a pint of a local beer, snack on a bison hot dog, visit the farm store and bring the kiddos to meet our friendly farm animals! Each week features a concert of local musicians from diverse genres: rhythm & blues, jazz, Americana and more! Each open-air concert is the perfect backdrop for family and friends to lounge in the late afternoon sun and soak up the remaining moments of a Maine summertime weekend.Learn more about the weekly line-up here. In the summer of 2024 a group of neighbors met in their backyard and bonded over a shared love of 90s alt rock, bringing together an unlikely pairing of musicians: Kurt, a veteran of the touring scene who recorded with J Mascis/Dinosaur Jr, Mark Lanegan, and GobbleHoof, among others; Gene, a music educator and saxophonist with feet in both the classical and jazz worlds; and Caroline, an ex-opera singer and late-in-life guitar player. The casual meetup quickly became a vehicle for Caroline’s songwriting, and the trio would regularly sneak into the dusty unfinished basement of their apartment building to jam (don’t tell our ex-landlord!). With the addition of Stephen Bennett (of bands Robert Samantha and God’s Furniture) on lead guitar, the group hit the circuit and played increasingly-hyped shows in the greater Portland, ME area. With strong vocals and heavy hooks, Lolabelle’s music is both bittersweet and deeply visceral, cathartic but also fun and full of driving energy. Playing venues ranging from the highly-established (Blue Portland Maine, The Apohadion Theater, The Portland Club, Hey Sailor! and the Starboard Lounge, Hi-Fidelity, Fogtown Brewing Company, to name a few) to the totally DIY (basements, house parties, driveway shows, you name it), Lolabelle is sure to pack a punch and bring the party with their high-energy live show. Just as important to the music is the handmade/homemade spirit infused in the band– whether it’s the limited edition shirts Caroline screen-printed-on-demand at a backyard fest, or the film photo you spot of yourself in the crowd at a driveway show, or the zine you picked up from the merch table. In February, the band hit the studio to make their first professional recordings; keep an eye out for Lolabelle’s debut EP, dropping in summer of 2026.
