Three days, three events - Weekend Spotlight

By Maine Coast Life EditorsNovember 4, 2026

Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, is just one of those days where there is almost too much happening. We barely had time to breathe after this year's Halloween before realizing that this weekend is featuring a stacked line-up, including a Rustic Overtones show at Live at Madrid's, Emo Night returning to AURA, and The Jazz Ambassadors of the US Army Field Band gracing the Boothbay Opera House stage.

But look, as long as we're all motivated to go out and celebrate after a highly energetic week, that's the only thing that counts. Even if you've got something on Saturday, there's still so much to do on Friday and Sunday, so they should not be forgotten. So with that said, here are three events to

“Hi, is this available?” A reading at Bold Magazine Shop - Friday, Nov. 6

This month, for Portland's First Friday art walk, come check out one of the most unique readings out there today. Author Chel Nico is hosting an evening reading from her hilarious, ongoing zine series, “Hi, is this available?” on Nov. 6 at Bold Magazine Shop in Portland.

The shop is keeping its doors open late to celebrate the event, with the reading kicking off at 6:30 p.m. Nico (whom you may have seen behind the desk at Longfellow Books) will read selections from the latest issue, volume six. She compiles some of the strangest, wildest, and most unhinged real-life Facebook Marketplace ads and interactions. Stop by, browse independent print magazines, and enjoy a night celebrating the absurdity of secondhand internet commerce.

The event is free to attend. Bold Magazine Shop is located at 604 Congress St., Portland, Maine.

Grime Studios benefit show - Saturday, Nov. 7

Support local music on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 8-11:30 p.m., as Bayside Bowl in Portland hosts an all-ages benefit concert for Grime Studios. The show will feature several bands taking the stage for a high-energy night, including Brandolino, Brie Dee & The Muck Toos, The Fur, Junker, Field Studies, and Rhys.

Proceeds directly benefit Grime Studios, a vital, grassroots pillar of the Greater Portland music community that provides affordable, 24/7 access "lock-out" rehearsal spaces and creative studios for local bands and artists.

Tickets are $20 at the door and in advance. Come out to enjoy incredible live sets and sustain a crucial creative incubator. Bayside Bowl is located at 58 Alder St., Portland, Maine.

Eddie Pepitone Live at Empire Comedy Club - Sunday, Nov. 8

Brace yourself for a night of explosive, cathartic laughs as legendary stand-up comedian Eddie Pepitone takes the stage at Portland’s Empire Comedy Club on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m.

Affectionately dubbed the “Bitter Buddha,” Pepitone is an acclaimed master of darkly comedic, high-energy rants targeting modern absurdities and corporate greed. A beloved cult figure and veteran character actor, he has appeared on "Community," "Bob’s Burgers," "Chappelle’s Show," and "Conan," with his acclaimed 2020 special "For the Masses" named the year's best by The New York Times. Don't miss this unhinged comedy powerhouse in one of the best comedy rooms in Portland.

Tickets start at $30. Doors open at 5 p.m. Empire Comedy Club is located at 575 Congress St., Portland, Maine.
